Loan signing Britt Assombalonga wants to make an impression on League Two following his move to Southend United.
The 19-year-old forward has agreed a one-month loan switch from Championship outfit Watford.
And following a successful spell with Blue Square Premier side Braintree Town last season the Congolese forward hopes to standout at Roots Hall.
“This is a step-up for me,” Assombalonga told the official website.
“This is League football after I played on loan at Braintree Town in the Conference last season.
“That went really well for me. I played five games with Braintree and really enjoyed it.
“Playing at Southend is the best thing for me to do at this moment in time.”
Assombalonga scored five goals in five games at Cressing Road last season following on from another loan with Wealdstone.
There he bagged six in 11 appearances and now he hopes to impress the manager at Roots Hall as well as new Hornets chief Gianfranco Zola.
“Everyone wants to impress the manager and I am no different,” he said.
“That is my first priority and if I can also catch the eye of the new manager at Watford then great.
“But I want to try and make an impression with Southend in League Two in this month and then see what happens.”
Britt’s loan was completed in time for the youngster to be involved in Southend United’s League Two opener with Accrington Stanley on Saturday (3pm).
