Southend United's under 18 youth team tournament has attracted top flight opposition with Arsenal, West Ham United and FC Twente coming to Roots Hall to challenge the young Blues.
The Southend United Youth Tournament which is being held over the weekend of Saturday 24 July and Sunday 25 July 2010 is attractively priced at £10 for adults for 1 day or £15 for adults for both days. Concessions are priced at £5 per day or £8 for both days and children are just £1 per day.
The Tournament kicks off with Arsenal vs. FC Twente Under 18's at 11.30am on Saturday 24 July. The young Blues get their campaign underway against West Ham United at 3pm.
On Sunday 25 July the action kicks off at 11.30am with the third and fourth placed play off match. The final of the Southend United Youth Team Tournament will take place at 3.30pm. Gates for both days' games will open one hour prior to the kick off of the first fixture.
Southend United Youth Team boss Ricky Duncan said: "Getting teams from Arsenal, West Ham United and FC Twente to play against us at Roots Hall is a huge coupe for the Blues. It will be fantastic for our young players to test themselves against some of the youngsters of top Premier League and European clubs. Everyone knows about the youth set ups of West Ham and Arsenal but FC Twente's senior side won the Dutch Championship last season beating teams like PSV and Ajax. The Dutch are all technically very good and I'm sure the young FC Twente team will be very difficult opposition for Southend."
