NORHALNE: THE END
Posted on: Thu 20 May 2010
With the football finished and one day to go, Sunday was a day for all the players to forget about football and to go and enjoy the adventures and fun of Farrup Sommerland.
Our trip to the water-theme park, which is just 20 minutes away is always a great way to end the tour and yet again our players were provided with the opportunity to enjoy the rides in a safe and happy environment.
The theme park plays host to a number of rides and activities which the youngsters all enjoy and allows them to enjoy themselves whilst giving them some responsibility. With the coaches joining them on a number of rides and getting soaking wet the fun and laughter experienced in the camp was excellent.
With the players learning how to deal with a different language and currency, it was good to see how they picked up the differences so well and deal with it in a sensible way. They were polite and were encouraged to use Danish words when possible with 'Tak' probably the most used word over the week. It's not a bad word to use as it means 'Thank you' So I think if anything, we were very polite in all communication!
The players enjoyed over 5 hours in the theme park before heading back for Biersted to change back into their travelling clothes and to consume a small supper prior to arriving back at Aalborg Airport for our returned flight.
The behaviour of the players throughout was great and with the friendly 'banter' and singing competitions we had throughout the week, some players lost their voices in the excitement! The spirit and atmosphere created by all was second to none and this made the tour such a great experience. Winning and playing well also supported this, however all the staff were delighted with the conduct the players demonstrates throughout.
I'm sure some valuable lessons were learnt by the players as we continue to teach them not only football skills but also life skills and trips such as these will only enhance their development and personalities.
The players were a credit to their parents/guardians, their schools - who kindly gave permission for them to travel, to the football club, but most importantly, to themselves!
The staff present on the tour, which included Steve King, James Powell and Ben Duncan were great with the players and they too enjoyed a great week, so a big thank you to them.
A special mention must go to Liam Douglas who also supported us on the tour. Liam was a guest of mine, and is a pro footballer in Denmark. He lives in Copenhagen but travelled over 5 hours across the country to support the players, of which he had a great rapport with, especially the Under 9's who he spent most time with. Liam was a great help and a valued member during the week and I'm sure the players enjoyed Liam being with us.
So I would like to again say a big thank you to all the players for their participation and wish them all the best of luck for the future as it's unlikely I will see them for alittle while, due to my exit from the club and beginning pastures new. I also would like to thank the parents for their support in this tour and over the course of the season. It has been much appreciated.
Well Done on making Norhalne Cup 2010 a great success!!
