BLACKMAN ON TRIAL

Posted on: Wed 17 Feb 2010

Former Bristol City left winger Andre Blackman will feature for Southend United's reserve side this afternoon.

Ipswich Town's second string visit Roots Hall this afternoon in the Totesport.com Combination League.

Blackman, 19, is without a side after being released by City in October last year.

The former Arsenal, Portsmouth and Tottenham trainee signed a two-year contract at Ashton Gate in July 2009 and made two appearances in the Carling Cup for the Championship outfit.

However, his spell with Gary Johnson's side was cut short when he was released after four months.

Blues have also included strikers Scott Spencer and Matt Paterson in their starting line-up.

Kick-off is at 2pm here at Root Hall and admission is free as always.

Southend: Daniel Bentley, Osei Sankofa, Johnny Herd, Merrick James-Lewis, Callum Whittaker, Adetayo Osifuwa, Kyle Asante, Jamie Dennis, Scott Spencer, Matt Paterson, Andre Blackman.

Subs: Marcus Milner, Luke Chambers, Jamie Stevens, John Owinja, Alex Woodyard.
