Southend United completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Lee Sawyer on a three-month loan this season.
Manager Steve Tilson moved to bring in the 18-year-old from the Premier League outfit following the sale of Nicky Bailey to Charlton Athletic
Sawyer is an England under-19 youth international who is now in his 10th season at Chelsea.
The youngster made seven appearances for Chelsea's reserve side last season and was also a prominent player in the FA Youth Cup run, which led them to the final of the competition.
However, a red card in the semi-finals at Villa Park ruled Sawyer out of the showpiece final against Manchester City last season.
Sawyer has twice been named on the bench for Chelsea's first team - against Everton in the Premier League and Rosenberg in the Champions League.
