Southend United completed the signing of American goalkeeper Ian Joyce on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old was released by Championship side Watford at the end of last season and put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract.
Joyce - who holds an Italian passport - became Southend's fifth signing of the summer and adds vital competition between the sticks following the summer departures of goalkeepers Steve Collis and Darryl Flahavan.
