| Tilson with his Performance of the Week award | |
Southend United have landed the League Manager Associations Performance of the Week award for their win over Ipswich Town.
United's 2-0 win at Portman Road helped Southend move closer to the Championship safety line.
A fortunate Mark Gower goal followed by Peter Clarke's strike gave Southend United a Championship survival lifeline.
Gower's cross from the left bounced through a crowd of players to put the Blues ahead on 35 minutes.
Southend doubled their lead seven minutes later when Clarke volleyed in Kevin Maher's free-kick.
The win was selected by the Managers Associations panel of Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry as the week's best result.
It is the third time United have landed the gong this season, having previously picked up the award against Birmingham City and Manchester United.
Steve Tilson will be presented with the award on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday tomorrow afternoon from 12pm.
