Midfielder Josh Simpson has set himself a target of ten goals this season after hitting his first against Torquay United on Saturday.
The 23-year-old, on loan at Roots Hall from Peterborough United, netted a stunning long-range shot in Saturday's 2-1 win.
And the Harlow born player is now keen to keep on hitting the back of the net on a more permanent basis.
"I scored 10 last year, so it would be nice to do the same again this season," Simpson told Blues Player after the match.
"I had missed a few chances in previous matches, but they all seemed to be going to my left foot.
"Luckily this time it was on my right and it could've gone anywhere, so it was great to see it go in."
Manager Paul Sturrock also backed Simpson to reach double figures after the match.
But it was the three points that pleased Simpson more than his goal.
"It was brilliant to get the three points and that matters the most," he admitted.
"It was a good first half because the tempo and quality was there.
"We made it hard for ourselves in the second half but we grafted and hung on to get the win."
