CLOHESSY SUSPENDED FOR JPT TIE

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

Defender Sean Clohessy is suspended for tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy match with Gillingham.

The former Gills defender will miss out on facing his ex-side after being sent off on Friday night against Bradford City.

Right-back Clohessy will serve a one match suspension against the Kent side after picking up two yellow cards.

That means on loan midfielder Josh Simpson, who has been given permission to play in the competition by Peterborough, could deputise as he did so against Bristol City in the Carling Cup.

Southend will also have to check on the fitness of centre-back Mark Phillips who has missed the last two matches with a hamstring problem.

Striker Scott Spencer is also a doubt having pulled out of the warm-up on Friday with back spasms.

Kick-off tonight at Roots Hall is at 7.45pm and ticket prices are just £6 for adults or seniors with under 16's just £3 and under 12's £1.
