Schillings, a London based legal firm specialising in defamation, recently issued the following statement on Mr. Martin's behalf:

"Our client made it clear at the time, in June of this year, that accusations of sexual assault made against him were completely false and entirely without foundation. It comes as no surprise therefore, that the Police have swiftly moved to confirm that no action will be taken against our client in relation to this matter.

"Whilst the Police have confirmed their file is closed, thereby clearing our client's name, it remains for Mr Martin to now decide whether or not to instigate proceedings against the individuals in the light of the false accusations."

On the 22nd June 2010 Mr. Martin said: "As chairman of the football club comes profile which can often be a burden as well as a benefit.""
