Southend United manager Paul Sturrock has hinted that Bilel Mohsni could be handed his debut against Port Vale on Saturday.
Mohsni completed his move to Roots Hall this week after the Club gained international clearance for the centre-back.
And after coming through 90 minutes for the Blues reserve team on Wednesday night Sturrock has hinted the 22-year-old could start this weekend.
"Mohsni has already had a test for us in the pre-season friendlies and came through them with flying colours," said boss Sturrock.
"He was outstanding for the reserves on Wednesday night and he is in my thoughts for Saturday."
Sturrock also ran the rule over trialist forwards Izale McLeod and Elvis Hammond in the 1-1 draw.
And he will now consider whether either player is suitable before informing the pair.
"I had a look at the two of them and I am going to deliberate today my thoughts on them," he said.
"I will make my mind up over the next couple of days.
"These players are looking for homes so they have no time to impressive over a period.
"I told them I would give them a decision in two days tops and I will abide by it."
