SALUTE YOUR SOUTHEND

Posted on: Wed 18 Aug 2010
At-ten-tion! Southend United supporters are being asked to fall into line next month in support of the Armed Forces.

The Blues' match against Torquay United on Saturday, 4th September (3pm) has been designated as Camouflage Day.

General Sturrock is ordering the Blue Army to come to the game dressed in their best camouflage uniforms to show their support for serving personnel and get behind the themed event.

"We all applaud the work that the armed services are doing at home and abroad," said Sturrock.

"It is not just about them but also about the families and the communities they live in who are all affected.

"This is an opportunity for the Football Club and its fans to show its support.

"We hope that the people of Southend will turn-out on mass to support Camouflage Day and get right behind the Blues."

As part of the day a family of four (2 adults and 2 children) can enjoy the match for just £20 in the Family Enclosure - saving £12 of the usual price of tickets - fantastic value!

To avoid any delays families taken advantage of our special promotional offer can bullet the queue, with the match tickets being sent as tickets-by-text direct to their mobile phones.

Taking place on the day will be a whole host of military themed activities including a combat display on the Roots Hall pitch, a special Blue Belles army dance, face painting, themed matchday music and much, much more.

The fixture will also include a collection by the Help for Heroes charity outside of Roots Hall.

Camouflage Day is the first of five themed matches this season including Cartoon and Kung Fu events.

The event will embrace the whole community with

Sergeant Robert 'Billy' Moore from the 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment meeting the Blues first team squad to discuss his experiences whilst serving in Afghanistan.

The Club has issued a viral video clip, to the right of this article, promoting the match and others will follow online.

To make sure you are part of the platoon call the Blues Box Office now on 08444 77 00 77 to secure your tickets.
