NO BAN FOR BLUES BOSS

Posted on: Mon 09 Aug 2010

The Football Association has confirmed that it will not be taking action against manager Paul Sturrock.

Blues boss Sturrock was sent to the stands on Saturday by referee Iain Williamson during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Stockport County.

Sturrock was given his marching orders following a contentious decision in the build-up to Stockport's opening goal.

Referee assistant Marvin Thompson flagged for offside before deciding to lower his flag moments before George Donnelly handed the visitors the lead.

However, the FA has this evening contacted Southend United to confirm it plans to take no further action against Sturrock meaning the Blues boss has avoided a potential touchline ban.

United drew the game 1-1 thanks to a injury time equaliser from Sturrock's son, Blair.

Sturrock will take his place on the Southend United bench for Tuesday's Carling Cup First Round clash against Bristol City,
