Southend United has today agreed to transfer the registration of Simon Francis to Charlton Athletic.

Although the Club agreed to release Simon from his contract we retained his registration.

Following talks with Charlton over the past week it has now been agreed to sell that registration to them.

Southend United will receive an initial upfront payment, together with further payments based on Charlton's success. The Club also retains a 25% sell-on fee.

Southend United wish to thank Simon for his excellent service and performances over the past four seasons - including winning Player of the Year at the end of last season - and wish him all the best with his new side.
