Southend United Chairman Ron Martin has been elected to the Football League's board.
Mr. Martin served on the League's board during the Blues previous stint in League Two.
And the Blues chief hopes he will be able to shape the future of football from the start of this season in his role as an alternate director for League Two.
"I have served previously on the Football League board as a representative for League Two and I was keen to stand again," Martin told southendunited.co.uk.
"I would like to continue to influence the future of the game, especially during these challenging economic times as the difference between the Championship and Leagues One and Two continues to grow.
"By being involved at board level I can represent the interests of League Two teams and Southend United."
The Football League board meet monthly to discuss and make decisions on a wide range of issues affecting football.
The board is made up of representatives from all three divisions along with the League's new Chairman Greg Clarke and independent director Ian Ritchie.
