Southend United have today signed Peter Gilbert and Barry Corr on pre-contract agreements at Roots Hall.
Peter and Barry have signed agreements to join Southend once the transfer embargo currently placed on the Football Club is lifted.
Both players have been training with the team over the past couple of days and will be able to play in pre-season friendlies in the interim period.
Left-back Gilbert returns to Roots Hall following a trial under former boss Steve Tilson 12 months ago.
He spent last season with Blues League Two rivals Northampton Town where he made 29 appearances.
The 26-year-old has played under Sturrock twice - at Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday - and featured for Wales Under 21 side on eight separate occasions.
Joining Gilbert in making the move to Essex is 6' 3" Irish striker Barry Corr.
Corr spent last season at Exeter City where he made 34 appearances helping the Grecians avoid relegation from League One.
Another player to have twice played under Sturrock - this time at Sheffield Wednesday and Swindon Town - Corr has opted to reunite with his former mentor once more.
Both players will sign for Southend on free transfers and will sign two-year contracts.
