Southend United's pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town has been cancelled.

The Blues were due to host Roy Keane's Ipswich side at Roots Hall on Friday evening.

However, following the appointment of new boss Paul Sturrock on Monday an agreement with the Championship side was reached to call the friendly off.

United's first team squad returned to training properly today following Sturrock's appointment.

Fans who have already purchased tickets for the match can obtain a full refund from the Blues Box Office, or swap the ticket for United's pre-season friendly against Derby County on Monday, July 19.
