Southend United's Carling Cup first round clash with Bristol City will take place on Tuesday, August 10 - kick-off 7.45pm.

The Blues have been paired against the Championship side in the opening round of the competition at Roots Hall.

City, who appointed former Reading chief Steve Coppell as their new manager at the end of last season, will provide stern opposition for United.

Ticket prices for this match have been set at £12 adults, £6 concessions and £1 for under 7's.

Steve Tilson guided his side to a second round 3-1 defeat at Hull City last season.
