Southend United boss Steve Tilson has confirmed that he has opened contract discussions with a hat-trick of players.

Franck Moussa, Scott Spencer and Damian Scannell have all been offered new deals to remain at Roots Hall.

The trio are out of contract at the end of this season and Tilson hopes he can hold onto them.

"We've been speaking with Franck and his agent for a while now," confirmed Tilson.

"We have also been in discussions with Damian and Scott's representatives about extending their deals.

"Obviously I want to keep them and hopefully we can make that happen."

The news comes following yesterday's announcement that United had extended left-back Johnny Herd's contract by a further year.

Blues activated an option in the 20-year-olds current deal to keep him at Southend for a further 12 months.

Both Scannell and Spencer are recovering from foot and ankle injuries respectively that cut short their seasons.
