Southend United captain Adam Barrett is likely to return to the starting line-up against Oldham Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues skipper has missed United's last two matches with hamstring problem.

However, after coming through training unscathed on Thursday, Barrett looks set to travel to Boundary Park.

Barrett's return means only Damian Scannell (foot) and Scott Spencer (ankle) are out of the vital League One clash.

Southend have to win against the Latics this weekend if they are to stand any chance of avoiding relegation from League One.

Steve Tilson's team are seven points from safety with three matches remaining.

The Club in conjunction with the Shrimpers Trust are laying on coaches to Oldham for £5 in a bid to boost away attendance.
