Steve Tilson admitted that it is getting tougher and tougher, but was left pleased with Southend United's performance at Leeds United.
The Blues chief felt that the team were comfortable in the first half, but knew the first goal would be important and was disappointed to see them concede on the hour mark, as they were hit on the counter attack.
Tilson knows that Southend will continue to fight till the end, as he looks towards gaining at least three wins from the remaining five games - starting at home to Brentford on Tuesday night.
"I thought we did well today and was pleased with the performance," Steve told Blues Player.
"It was all about hanging in for as long as we could and the first goal was going to be important.
"We made the wrong decision in their half to give the ball away and they have counter attacked and scored.
"Up until then, I thought that we were pretty comfortable.
"Leeds didn't create too much in the first half and the crowd got on their back, but as I said, it was important not to concede the first goal.
"I thought it was a good performance from the lads and I'm gutted we have lost, because they worked so hard.
"It is getting tougher and tougher, but we will fight another day on Tuesday against Brentford.
"We probably have to win three of our last five games and maybe a draw in there as well, but while it is possible, we have to believe we can do it."
