SPENCER'S SEASON OVER

Posted on: Wed 07 Apr 2010

Striker Scott Spencer's season is over it has been confirmed following a scan today on his injured ankle.

Scan results have confirmed that the former Rochdale forward has ligament and tendon damage.

And that means that the 21-year-olds season is now over with his set to miss at least four weeks.

The former Everton trainee moved to Roots Hall on a free transfer in January after signing a six month contract.

He scored four goals in 12 appearances before picking up the knock against Gillingham on Monday afternoon.

The injury was sustained after clashing with Gills defender Gary Richards in the first half of the 3-0 defeat before also colliding with the Kent sides' keeper after half-time.

That was enough for Spencer to be replaced after 65 minutes by Matt Paterson.

Meanwhile, midfielder Alan McCormack continues to make good progress from his own ankle problem but it is still touch and go if the Irishman will be risked against Leeds United on Saturday.
