Steve Tilson refused to hide the fact that Southend United produced a flat performance in their goalless draw at home to Yeovil Town.
The Blues chief had seen the team score six goals in their last two encounters, but they were shot shy this afternoon, with Tilson knowing the tempo they have had in recent weeks was missing against Yeovil.
"It was a flat performance today," Steve told Blues Player.
"In recent games we have scored plenty of goals, but Yeovil kept it tight and came to get a point, which they did.
"It was only in the last 10 minutes when they had a go.
"The tempo has been good of late and I can't hide the fact that it was a flat performance.
"It wasn't quite to be for us and the draw was probably a fair result.
"The situation off the field doesn't help, but there is not too much I can do to change things around."
With Franck Moussa suspended and Damian Scannell ruled out through injury, Southend were shorn of two key attacking players and Tilson admitted that their absence left him with few options to change around a small squad.
"Moussa and Scannell have been our most consistent performers over the last five or six weeks and it was a big blow to be missing them," he said.
"We haven't got a big enough or good enough squad, but we have to go with what we have got.
"We have to go to Gillingham on Monday and try and win.
"We have to go there believing we can win the game and see where it takes us."
