Southend United boss Steve Tilson's motto is 'play badly, win well' going into tomorrows match against Yeovil Town.
Blues are two points off safety in League One going into Saturday's game against the Glovers.
And following a number of improved displays Tilson wants his side to now start having something to show for their endeavour.
"We need a poor performance but get a good result, which would be nice," Tilson told Blues Player. "Hopefully that will start Saturday.
"I keep saying we are playing well but maybe it is time for us not to play so well but grind a result out.
"I can't fault anyone for how well they are playing of late but it would be nice to put in a not so good performance but get three points on the board."
United face Yeovil Town at Roots Hall on Saturday in the first of two matches over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Glovers are currently 15th in League One and all but safe from relegation but Tilson insisted that they were not to be underestimated.
"They certainly won't be looking at their holidays," he said.
"Yeovil have 44 points and will be looking for two more wins so don't make any mistakes that they won't come and have a go.
"They still need two wins to make sure they are safe and until they get those they will be coming to ours and giving everything,"
