Steve Tilson was left to reflect on a "great feeling", as Southend United picked up their first win of 2010.

The Blues chief was delighted with both the final result and the manner of the win, after an impressive 3-0 win against Walsall.

Southend have now gone three games unbeaten and Tilson highlighted his own belief in the team that they can stay up this season and admitted that is what he will keep telling the players.

"It is a fantastic feeling to win tonight," Steve told Blues Player.

"I've just said to the lads, what a great feeling to come off the pitch knowing you have won a game, as it has been a while.

"It was a very good performance and the difference was that we put our chances away and deservedly got the three points.

"We had to play with a tempo and purpose tonight and now we have nine more cup finals, where I think we need four wins and a draw to stay up.

"There were some very good individual performances and we performed as a team; I couldn't have asked anymore effort wise.

"Franck got in some good areas tonight and could have scored three or four goals.

"It was a fantastic finish for his first goal and you don't see too many headers from Franck, but it was a great cross from Franno at the end and he has put it away.

"The fans got behind us tonight and played a major part.

"They gave the players a lift and it really does make a difference.

"We now go to Bristol Rovers on Saturday, but it is a game to look forward to after tonight.

"I believe we can stay up and I'll be getting that into the players.

"We have to believe we can get out of the relegation and I certainly believe that we are good enough to do that."
