Manager Steve Tilson is targeting six wins from his last 12 'cup finals' he confirmed this week.

Blues take on Exeter City this weekend knowing that three points against their fellow relegation threatened opponents will go a long way to helping Southend scramble to safety.

But Tilson knows the Grecians will be hard to break down at Roots Hall on Saturday.

"Exeter is a decent side who will play five at the back so they will be hard to break down," Steve told southendunited.co.uk.

"Upfront they have pace with the boy Marcus Haber on loan from West Brom who is 6' 3" and very quick.

"They are down there with us and will be looking to get out of the bottom four as much as we are.

"There are 12 games to go and each one is a cup final and we have got to try and win six of those."

Tilson will be in the dugout for the first time without his former assistant Paul Brush on Saturday.

Brush was this week dismissed from his position at Roots Hall and instead the Blues boss will be helped by David Webb.

"I'm disappointed to see Paul go as I have worked with him for seven years and he has become a good friend," he said.

"But David Webb has come in to assist me now and I know what he is all about after playing under him.

"He will bring a lot of experience with him but things are tough at the moment."
