Steve Tilson admitted that it is up to Southend United to make sure they get the results they need to make sure they finish outside of the bottom four of League One.

It was a position which the Blues found themselves in after losing 3-0 at Hartlepool United, but Tilson knows they need to keep going and believe in themselves to get out of trouble.

"It is disappointing, because it wasn't a three nil defeat," Steve told southendunited.co.uk.

"I thought it was an even game and we had as many chances as them.

"Hartlepool took theirs and that was the difference.

"I thought we looked comfortable in the second half, but the first two goals we conceded were poor defensively from us.

"We are not getting the breaks at the moment, but we have to keep going, get out on the training ground and believe in each other.

"Being in the bottom four of the table doesn't change anything, as we have to go out and get results, it's as simple as that."
