TILSON: WE HAD SOME GREAT CHANCES

Posted on: Sat 20 Feb 2010

Steve Tilson admitted that Southend United were made to pay for not scoring from the "unbelievable chances" they created at MK Dons.

The Blues chief was pleased with the team's performance, but saw an all too familiar story of conceding poor goals and lacking a cutting edge up front, after suffering a 3-1 defeat.

"I thought we played ever so well," Steve told southendunited.co.uk.

"We had four or five chances in the first half and should have gone in ahead at the break.

"We were certainly the better team in the first half, but the goal so quickly after half time killed us.

"Their first goal came from our corner and the second when we failed to deal with a cross, but we had some unbelievable chances.

"We need to start putting them away and stop conceding at the other end.

"There are 15 games to go now, but it is still in our own hands."
