Steve Tilson acknowledged that he had to be pleased with a point, after Southend United battled back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Swindon Town.
The Blues chief saw the team make a nightmare start to the match by going two goals down inside the opening 10 minutes, but the team rallied to score twice in the final five minutes at Roots Hall.
Tilson knows the team made it hard for themselves against their in-form opponents and was disappointed with the nature of the two goals conceded, but was ultimately left delighted with the spirit shown to force the comeback.
"I've got to be pleased with a point," Steve told Blues Player.
"We didn't get off to a great start, but we will always give it a go and it's a fantastic point.
"Granty has had to come off injured and we've had to play Scott Malone in the centre of midfield and you do fear the worst.
"We conceded two poor goals at the start.
"Jean has allowed their player to get in behind him and for the second, Pat has gone to clear it and it has hit their lad and run straight through to their player to score, but that is the way the luck has gone for us.
"We changed the formation to try and get our best players on the park, but the goals we conceded had nothing to do with the formation.
"We felt it was important that Jean played some part in the game, as he will have to play Colchester.
"He has trained for two weeks solid and played in a reserve game, so fitness was not an issue, but unfortunately, his decision making was not at its best.
"I thought Scott Vernon, for someone that has been out for 10 weeks, was very good in his first game back and was always a threat.
"Pat Baldwin is a good organiser and that is what we need at the moment, somebody with experience.
"Overall, the lads showed a lot of spirit to get back into the game and get us a point."
