Steve Tilson was pleased with how Southend United set themselves up at Huddersfield Town and believes they should have come away with a point.
The Blues chief was disappointed with the manner of the two goals conceded and feels his team are being "too nice" in certain areas, but found positives with Scott Spencer scoring on his debut with a late goal.
"I felt we deserved a point from the game today," Steve told Blues Player.
"Our set-up was good and we frustrated them for long periods.
"They didn't hurt us until they scored the first goal and it was a poor time to concede just a minute before half time.
"I was pleased with our overall performance, but I wasn't happy with the second goal we conceded; we need to be doing better than that.
"We are being too nice in those kind of areas and it is frustrating to be giving away two bad goals.
"If we had defended better for those goals, then we would have got something out of the game.
"It was a good ball from Franno for Scott to score on his debut, but we couldn't get the ball for long enough to create anymore late chances.
"If I'm being honest, we are still short of a bit of quality.
"We had to play Franno out of position which doesn't help and I would like to bring in other players, but with things as they are at the moment, that is difficult."
