Southend United have extended the loan of Sunderland defender Jean-Yves M'Voto today.

The Frenchman has this afternoon signed a new six month loan deal to keep him at Roots Hall until the end of the season.

M'Voto spent the first half of the season on loan at Southend from the Premier League side but his spell was cut short by injury.

Despite some impressive displays a hip problem in September that required surgery, meant that he made just six appearances before sitting out for over 12 weeks.

However, the centre-back will return to training at Boots and Laces on Thursday as he bids to regain his match fitness over the next couple of weeks.
