TILSON'S (CHICKEN) SUPREME AMBITION

Posted on: Fri 08 Jan 2010

Southend United boss Steve Tilson has urged local businesses not to stand in the way of his dream of managing the Blues in a new stadium.

All but a few of the final building blocks are in place for Southend to begin work on their new stadium this year.

Blues have agreed to purchase nearly all the business premises all the properties around Roots Hall including the Councils and Prospects College which form part of the new Sainsbury's store.

However, it appears maybe two local takeaways are trying to stall the whole development and Tilson is urging them to take their pizza-the-action.

"Everybody has been working so hard to try and get the new development going it's frustrating that its being held up by a couple of individuals," said manager Steve Tilson.

"I've made it no secret that I see the new stadium as something that I want to be a part of.

"As soon as the stadium gets going I will have the funds to really improve the squad and the future will start to look really bright.

"A really Super Pizza for me would be one that was taken-away!"

Tilson, who is a real pizza man, enjoys the tasty treat after an away game and believes that it is the ideal substance following a physical 90 minutes on a Saturday.

"We often have a couple of pizzas on the team coach on the way home from games," he said.

"The carbs they provide are good for recovery for professional sportspeople and so the boys all tuck in.

"I have to admit though we are a Dominos side though - I enjoy a Chicken Supreme or the Mighty Meaty."
