Southend United defender Osei Sankofa is nearing a return to the first team action.

The defender, who can play at both right-back and centre-back, is now back in full training.

And he has not suffered any further setbacks with his knee since upping his workload.

"It's feeling good and there hasn't been any swelling which is good news," said Sankofa.

"I've surprised myself with how good I'm feeling and hopefully I'm ready to be involved with the first team again soon.

"I know there's a reserve team game next week and I'm 100 per cent ready to play in that."
