Defender Jean-Yves M'Voto has returned to Sunderland this week to continue his rehabilitation work.

Frenchman M'Voto underwent surgery on a hip injury around three weeks ago in Coventry.

And having completed a fortnight at Roots Hall the 6' 4" centre-back will now continue at the Black Cats training facility for the next six weeks.

M'Voto has made six appearances for Southend during his six month spell from the Premier League side.

However, a hip injury picked up during Blues 0-0 draw with Leeds United in September has hindered his progress.

The 21-year-old subsequently limped off during United's 3-2 win at Brighton a week later.

M'Voto's loan at Roots Hall expires on 10 January 2010.
