Southend United have signed Milton Keynes Dons' Jabo Ibehre on a month long loan from their League One rivals.

Ibehre, 26, can operate on both the right wing and in attack and joined the Blues ahead of today's 5pm loan window deadline.

The Islington born attacker has previously worked with United's assistant manager Paul Brush at Leyton Orient where he progressed through their youth set-up.

He made over 100 appearances for the O's scoring 30 goals before being released in May 2008.

Prior to joining the Dons at the start of this season Ibehre enjoyed a year long spell with Walsall where he scored ten goals in 39 appearances.

Bizarrely one of those ten strikes was against MK Dons when his winner in Walsall's 1-0 victory at stadium:mk denied the Dons automatic promotion from League One last term.

This season the Ibehre has been limited to just nine appearances and one goal as the manager who signed him in the summer, Roberto Di Matteo, left stadium:mk for West Brom with Paul Ince re-installed as the Dons new chief.
