Southend United boss Steve Tilson will be without influential pair Alan McCormack and Lee Barnard for Saturday's FA Cup first round clash with Gillingham.

Blues travel to Kent to face the Gills for the second time in eight days having beaten Mark Stimson's side 1-0 in League One last Friday.

However, United will be without both Barnard and McCormack with the duo set to serve one match bans.

Both have accumulated five yellow cards this season and will now sit out Saturday's cup match.

Tilson's small squad however has been boosted by the return of Dougie Freedman and Damian Scannell.

Both came through training on Thursday unscathed following a groin and foot injury respectively.

And the pair are expected to be included for the trip to the Priestfield Stadium.
