Defender Adam Barrett will be holding coaching sessions with the Southend wingers this week after setting up Blues second goal against Leyton Orient.
Captain Barrett delicately chipped the ball to the back post to allow Lee Barnard to score his second in Friday night's 3-0 win.
And after the game the former Bristol Rovers centre-back joked about offering some advice to United's widemen.
"For many a year to come I will be going on about that cross, it's the first time I have used my right foot this year," Adam joked with Blues Player.
"I had a shot that got blocked the first time which was a bit of luck as it wasn't going anywhere and then I just managed to dig it out.
"I'll be running some training sessions for the wingers this week now to show them how to do it.
"In all seriousness it was a good header from Lee and a great result in the end."
It was United's first win in six matches but despite that performances on the whole had been positive.
But Barrett was not worried about the situation.
He said: "Having been in these situations before then personally I wasn't panicking, maybe a few of the younger players were.
"We needed that first win in the league because we have been a bit unlucky so far this season as performances have been good.
"It is a tremendous result against your local rivals in what was a brilliant atmosphere.
"Lee (Barnard) is one of those players that he can be having a quiet game but then he gets half a chance and he puts it away.
"If we are going to do anything this year we need someone to be banging away the goals and he has gotten off to a great start."
Meanwhile, left-back Johnny Herd made his first start of the season and Barrett reserved some special praise for the 19-year-old.
"Johnny got a chance and I thought he did very well," he said. "People have got to be patient with him because when you play a long run of games it becomes harder.
"But Johnny is a real talent and we will all be helping him along. He did very well and I am very pleased for him."
