REVELL LOANED TO SWINDON

Posted on: Tue 01 Sep 2009

Southend United striker Alex Revell has joined League One rivals Swindon Town on loan today ahead of the closure of the transfer window.

Revell, 26, has joined the Robins on loan until January with a view to a permanent move to the County Ground.

"Alex Revell has failed to live up to expectations," Chief Executive Geoffrey King told southendunited.co.uk.

"He was signed by the Football Club to deliver which he has not done and that is why he is moving on.

"Others may fall into the same catagory as we move forwards and rebuild the squad."

The striker moved to Roots Hall in January 2008 for £150,000 from Brighton and Hove Albion and has made 43 appearances, scoring four goals.

After suffering a broken leg against Leyton Orient at the end of January, Revell returned to first team action last week making his first start in over six months against Hull City.

Blues lost 2-1 to Swindon Town on Saturday, with Revell starting against the Robins.
