CALVER LOANED TO ST. ALBANS
Southend United youngster Craig Calver has gone on loan to Blue Square South side St. Albans City today.
Calver, who signed a one-year development contract at the end of last season, has been loaned to City for a month.
The Blues striker was part of last seasons successful under 18's side that won the Youth Alliance League for the first time in United's history.
"This loan move is all part of Craig's development," said Ricky Duncan.
"He has trained with the first team in pre-season and with reserve games not getting into full flow yet it is a chance for him to play football.
"He was our top goalscorer in the youth team last season and if he gets chances at St. Albans he will hopefully pick up where he left off."
Calver will link up with ex-Southend midfielder Luke Thurlbourne who joined City after being released at Roots Hall last season.
St. Albans are away to Bishop Stortford on Saturday.
