TUESDAY'S PRESS TALK

Posted on: Tue 25 Aug 2009

Southend United captain Adam Barrett will clock up his 250th appearance for the club at Hull City tonight. The 29-year-old centre-back is currently enjoying his fifth season with the Shrimpers. And he is hoping to celebrate the landmark with a shock victory over the Tigers in the second round of the Carling Cup. "It's a nice milestone to have reached and it's great to have played so many games for my home-town club," said Barrett.

Blues' on loan left-back John White is a doubt for tonight's Carling Cup clash at Hull City. White picked up a calf problem during Friday night's 0-0 draw with Millwall. And, although he trained yesterday, the 23-year-old defender may not be risked at the KC Stadium. "John has a calf problem and we will not make a decision until this morning on whether or not to play him," Blues boss Steve Tilson told the Echo.
