Southend United boss Steve Tilson has been pleased with his sides' solid start to the season.

Blues are unbeaten after two games this season and go to Walsall on Saturday looking for their first win in League One.

And despite last season's heavy 5-2 defeat at the Banks's Stadium, Tilson isn't looking for revenge this time around.

"It has been a good start to the season for us," Steve told Blues Player.

"We could have beaten Huddersfield and then winning on Tuesday night means it has been a solid start.

"We have scored four goals in two games which is pleasing but the lapses in concentration at times mean that we have conceded a few too many goals.

"Revenge isn't something that we will think about and we just want to keep our good start to the season going.

"Walsall had a fantastic result on the opening day of the season and made a few changes for the cup so we can't take too much notice of that."

Blues have been helped along their way by the form of striker Lee Barnard in the opening stages of the campaign.

The ex-Tottenham forward has scored three goals in two games so far.

And Tilson has been pleased with his sides attacking play.

"Barney has been fantastic so far and he is getting himself in areas to score goals and he has to keep doing that," he said.

"Tuesday night Simon Francis' delivery was fantastic and we should have probably scored more from them in the first half.

"Granty playing where he is at the moment is allowing others to get forward and it is working well."
