SOUTHEND WAIT ON LAURENT SCAN

Posted on: Tue 11 Aug 2009

Striker Francis Laurent is the Blues only fresh injury concern ahead of tonight's Carling Cup clash with Cheltenham.

The Frenchman has suspected ligament damage to his ankle after being stretchered off during Saturday's League One opener with Huddersfield Town.

Blues are awaiting the results on an MRI scan on Monday to determine how long he will be sidelined for.

Meanwhile, Lee Sawyer (ribs), Damian Scannell (ankle) and Craig Calver (suspended) are also unavailable.

Defender Osei Sankofa and Stuart O'Keefe have returned to training following injuries but may not be ready.

United have been given permission to play loanees John White, Matt Heath and Jean-Yves M'Voto by Colchester and Sunderland.

Kick-off at Whaddon Road is at 7.45pm this evening and Blues Player will have full match commentary online.
