Southend United duo James Walker and Damian Scannell have been ruled out of Saturday's pre-season friendly at Chelmsford City.

The pair are yet to figure during the Blues warm-up fixtures through injury.

But manager Steve Tilson is not concerned by their absence from matches..

"They have been working hard on their own fitness regimes and I don't think they are missing out on too much," said the Blues boss.

"In an ideal world they would be playing in the games as well but they will be OK.

"We are being sensible with them and want them to have a full week of training before they figure in the friendlies."

Walker is out with a hamstring injury while Scannell has a knee problem.

Joining them on the sidelines is right-back Osei Sankofa who has an Achilles injury but he is expected back in training next week.
