TILSON: I WON'T BE RUSHED
Southend United boss Steve Tilson insists that he won't be rushed into making panic buys this summer.
Blues are yet to make their first signing of the summer ahead of the new season, which kicks off in August.
And having lost defender Peter Clarke to Huddersfield Town the United chief insists he will take his time in the transfer market to ensure he secures the right replacement for the Liverpudlian.
"Things are pretty quiet at the moment, people are still away, and I am not going to panic and get somebody in for the sake of it," said the Blues boss.
"We have a few players in mind and it is a question of seeing the possibility of getting one of them.
"Northing is imminent at the moment but we will have to wait and see. We won't be rushed."
Meanwhile, Tilson has hit out at the decision to increase the number of substitutes next season to seven.
The concept was trialled in last seasons Carling Cup and FA Cup and will now be implemented in League games.
Teams will still only be allowed to bring on a maximum of three subs however.
"I think having seven subs available in the league is absolutely crazy," he said.
"In all aspects of life times are difficult in business at the moment and football is no different.
"Clubs are going to have smaller squads, if you can't bring three subs on out of five then there is something wrong. For me I don't see any point in it."
