Southend United's under 18 defender Callum Whittaker has today been called-up to the Northern Ireland under 18 squad.

Whittaker, a first year scholar, has been placed on standby by the Northern Irish FA for their match against Gran Canaria.

The centre-back has been in fine form for Blues youth side this season.

Ricky Duncan's youngsters are currently in second place in the Puma Youth Alliance with three games in hand on leaders Rushden and Diamonds.
