Southend United skipper Adam Barrett has told his team to fight like never before in a bid to stop their slide down the League One table.

Blues were beaten again on Saturday, losing 1-0 at home to 10 man Yeovil Town.

And the centre-back knows they must soon improve to avoid being dragged into real danger towards the bottom of the table.

"It's another disappointing result for us and of course it's a worry what's happening at the moment," said Barrett.

"We're not stupid and know we could easily soon find ourselves in a dogfight if we don't stand up and be counted.

"We know the reality of our situation and we must be braver and better if we don't want to go even further down the table.

"We aren't scoring enough goals and it's a concern.

"We need to be more confident and clinical and braver on the ball because the current situation is really hurting me."
