New boy Rob Milsom is backing the Blues to bounce back against Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night after tasting defeat for the first time in a Southend shirt.
Milsom, 21, arrived on loan at Roots Hall from Premier League side Fulham late on Friday afternoon.
And the left-winger made his debut on Saturday in United's 2-1 defeat against Oldham Athletic.
However, the Cottagers youngster is backing Blues to bounce straight back tomorrow night against Cheltenham Town.
"I actually thought we played quite well especially as we were up against a strong Oldham side," said Milsom who made 6 appearances whilst on loan at Brentford last season.
"I thought we played some good stuff and didn't deserve to lose but in the end we were undone by two set pieces, which was a little bit disappointing.
"We go to Cheltenham tomorrow and it's an early chance to put things right again."
Saturday's defeat pushed Southend down a place to ninth in the League One table but Milsom is looking forward to helping his new team-mates recover.
Milsom has been with Fulham since he was 12 and has only made one substitute appearance for the Premiership side.
But he is excited at the prospect of regular first team football with Southend.
"You can't beat match experience and playing in front of crowds," he said.
"Every player needs games and I'm no different.
"It's going to do me good. I'm here for at least a month and then we will see what happens after that."
