The August transfer window will run until midnight on September 1st this season, rather than the traditional August 31st slot.

Due to the end of the month falling on a Sunday a decision has been made to extend the window closure by a further 24 hours.

That means that football clubs are able to sign players of a permanent basis up until midnight on Monday, September 1.

After that period the transfer window will remain shut until January 1st 2009 except for emergency loans.
