Gary Hooper goes straight into the starting XI for today's League One fixture at home to Port Vale.
Hooper has only just returned from a spell on loan at Hereford, where he scored 12 goals, and will be looking to carry such form into the end of the campaign with Southend.
Hal Robson-Kanu returns from injury to take his place down the left flank and Franck Moussa also comes into the centre of the park.
