ERIC KEEN TO STAY
Eric Odhiambo is hoping to extend his loan spell at Roots Hall this week.
The 18-year-old striker, who started Saturday's 2-1 victory at Port Vale, will play the last match of his initial month-long spell from Leicester City at Bristol Rovers tomorrow.
But having linked up well with Leon Clarke at the weekend, the speedy striker is keen to stay at Southend for longer.
"If staying here is an option then I would definitely like to do it," said Odhiambo "I'm not sure what's going to happen because it's out of my hands really, but it would be good to stay."
Should Southend manage to hold onto the Foxes starlet then he will be looking to form a partnership with Clarke.
"The manager only told me I was playing on the morning of the match and he told me to go out and enjoy it," explained Odhiambo.
"It was easy to play alongside Leon Clarke and it was good to get out there.
"I was tiring towards the end but whether or not I play again at Bristol Rovers I'm not sure.
"Matt Harrold has done nothing wrong, the manager just felt he needed a rest after playing so many games, so we shall have to see what he decides to do now."
